The Narrative. Life is a book. We fill the pages.

We all have memories and moments in our lives that set our paths in new directions. Moments that become life changing. Students studying CUA40715: Certificate IV in Design (Creative Styling for Events) tapped into these memories, creating a powerful display.

The Brief

Students were set the task to create an event that captured a moment in their life that told a story or experience using visual design.

While working both individually and collaboratively the Event Students brainstormed and worked together, allowing them to come up with and create The Narrative.

With all the students delegated into a team role they were able to work together to overcome each challenge, all of which played an important part to make the event a success!

The students created an emotional link for all that came to see these stunning installations.

Remember

‘Him Before the Illness, I try to remember.

With the words of my family, I try to remember.

Something so Fond, I try to remember.

His tired blooming heart, I try to remember.’

– Sarah Gibbon

The Design

To bring this event together, the students came up with the aesthetic concept.  Featuring beautiful neutral, earthy tones allowed all of the individual installations to flow seamlessly together.

To create their work each student used a mixture of raw linens, jars with native flowers recycled book pages, cardboard and plants.

On The Night

The Event was held at the Hunter Design School allowing for each student’s friends and family to enjoy and see the success of all the 3D structural designs.

Upon entry each guest was transported into the story as they followed the pathway of old book pages.

Welcomed with a glass of bubbly and individual antipasto platters, talking a walk down memory lane never felt as good or emotional!
