This course provides a sound foundation and education for students who inspire to join such industries as: interior design and styling, colour design and consulting, landscape and garden design, visual art, graphic design, fashion design, theatre and exhibition.
Hunter Design School offers students further studies in a diploma of Colour Planning and Consulting and a Diploma of Interior Styling and Design.
entry requirements
No previous experience or studies in the design field is necessary; all you need is a desire to create and have fun.

- Discover and understand the history and theories about colour
- The colour wheel and colour psychology, and how they relate to our environment
- Primary and tertiary colour and the different types of colour schemes
- Discovering different colour combinations and the various colour effects you can achieve
- Understanding how to read tone and value to successfully use texture with the design environment
- Develop skills in drawing and rendering
- Understanding the elements and principles
- Understanding the history, design tools and the elements and principles that contribute to your ability to communicate and mind map your ideas.
- Developing skills in graphic design and branding
- Develop a comprehensive knowledge to interpret, construct and present your designs
assessments
Students will be assessed throughout the course as a combination of research assignments and practical projects.
course duration
We are currently offering 2 intakes for February and July. With 2 study options of either 3 hours per week for 30 weeks, taught over 12 months or 6 hours per week for 15 weeks, taught over 6 months.The course is mixed mode delivery of 90 hours of face-to-face and additional self-directed study.
